We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Fretting Technician to join our guitar-making team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, leveling, crowning, polishing, and finishing frets to ensure optimal playability and sound quality. You will work closely with other craftsmen and production staff to deliver guitars that meet Shue Guitars high-quality standards.
- Install, seat, and trim frets accurately on guitar fingerboards.
- Perform fret leveling, crowning, and polishing to achieve smooth playability.
- Inspect and ensure fretwork meets precise quality and performance standards.
- Repair, replace, or adjust frets on new builds and existing instruments.
- Collaborate with luthiers and finishing teams to ensure production flow.
- Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition.
- Follow company quality and safety guidelines in the workshop.
- Diploma/Certificate in Woodworking or relevant experience. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
- Hands-on experience in fretting, setup, or guitar repair (1+ year preferred).
- Good understanding of guitar construction, neck geometry, and playability.
- Skilled with hand tools and precision measuring equipment (files, calipers, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to company standards.
- Previous experience in guitar manufacturing or repair workshop.
- Knowledge of different fret sizes, materials, and installation methods.
- Familiarity with guitar setup, nut/saddle work, and action adjustments.
